Camp Walkalpaca

An adventure that your child will talk about for years to come! 

 

*Camp is intended for students entering 1st-6th grades*

All Walkapaca campers will be exposed to hands on learning experiences each day they attend. Some of the topics that will be taught during each camp session are:

 

Alpaca History

Alpacas’ nature and unique qualities

Feeding, watering and nutrition

Care and Handling

Barn and pasture care

Proper halter fit and haltering techniques

Proper leading techniques

Obstacle course

Techniques used in the show ring

Alpaca fiber

Crafting with alpaca fiber

Dying Fiber

Weaving

Knitting

Alpaca storytelling and writing/drawing

Alpaca crafts

Alpaca games

Cooking Activities

Gardening 

Nature Walk

 

 

Each week the camp will be tailored to the unique ages of the campers. Sign up early because camp weeks are limited, and groups are limited.

 

Half Day Sessions run Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 12:00 noon.

Full Day Sessions will run until 5:00pm. 

 

The extended session will be used to reinforce the skills that we have been working on in the morning. 

 

Please bring the following for camp (please label all items):

 

Sneakers and Muck boots (Rain boots)

Clothing that can get dirty or possibly even ruined 

Hat

Extra Sunscreen (also apply before coming to camp)

Water bottle

Snack and drink

Sweatshirt/sweater for cool days

Insect repellent

Raincoat

 

 

Full Day Session campers will also need:

 

Flip flops 

Bag Lunch (Tuesday will be pizza day)

 

Every Friday we will have Make Your Own Sundae

 

 

Camp Fees:

8:30am – 12:00: $140.00 per session

Full Day (12:00 – 5:00 pm): additional $75.00

 

Camp T-shirt included in camp fee
